In a move to launch its crackdown on violators, the Land and Development Office (L&DO) under the housing and urban affairs has started sealing the leased properties where the lessees have breached the conditions such as unauthorised construction, non-payment of dues and commercial use of residential properties.
Officials informed that one such 800 sq yard property was sealed in East Patel Nagar this week and several such properties have been identified, including in posh localities across Delhi where the lessee have violated the lease conditions.
"Once such properties are sealed, these are categorised as re-entered properties as the L&DO becomes the owner. If the violators pay the compounding fee for offences that are compoundable, the possession of the property is given back to the lessee," said an official.
According to the sources, the government doesn't want to seal or take back the land given to people till they comply with the norms.
