The residents of BPTP Spacio in Sector 37D filed a police complaint against the developer on Sunday, alleging that it has failed to ensure functional lifts in the highrise. Residents complained about faulty lifts jeopardising their safety and demanded a concrete solution. They said the automatic rescue devices of these lifts fail often and cause sudden falls from a considerable height. They also claimed the lifts witness heavy jerks when electricity fluctuates or disconnects and demanded that the developer replace them.
Moreover, residents have also alleged that nothing has changed despite repeated complaints. “There is serious concern about the faulty lifts inside the society as they pose a life threat. Women, senior citizens, and kids often panic due to the strong jerks and free fall of lifts. We have reached out to the developer repeatedly but to no avail.
Tarvinder Singh, a resident, said, “For any highrise, lifts are the lifeline; this is a disaster in the making,”.
In fact, the residents informed that the developer has also not completed the project or handed over parking space to flat owners, even after two years.
Rohit Mohan, senior vice president of BPTP Group, said, “We have already clarified via a letter issued through the manufacturer of the lifts that jerks, if any, are within permissible limits. We have all the necessary safety and operations certificates, according to policy. All other allegations levelled against us are baseless.”
